Matteau Not To Return As Armada Assistant Coach

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada announced on Tuesday that assistant coach Stephane Matteau will not return to the club next season.

The Armada said the decision was made following a meeting between management and Mr. Matteau.

Stephane's son, Stefan Matteau Jr., was released by the Armada during the teams semifinal series with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar after an altercation with head coach Jean-Francois Houle.

Matteau has spent the last two seasons as Blainville-Boisbriand's assistant coach.

London Knights To Host 2014 Mastercard Memorial Cup

The Ontario Hockey League today announced on behalf of the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup Site Selection Committee that the city of London, ON, and the London Knights Hockey Club will host the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

The Halifax Mooseheads got some good news heading into the 2013 Mastercard Memorial Cup.

Co-captain Stefan Fournier, who blocked a shot with his face during game five of the President Cup Final will not miss any games at the Memorial Cup next week in Saskatoon.

Willy Palov of the Halifax Chronicle-Herald (http://thechronicleherald.ca/Sports) tweeted on Sunday afternoon saying "Mooseheads GM Cam Russell said Stefan Fournier's jaw is sore but not broken. He will be ready to go for the Memorial Cup."

Foreurs' Richard May Leave The QMJHL

Val-d'Or Foreurs center Anthony Richard may leave the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

According to Simon Larouche of Hockey Prospects (www.hockeyprospects.com), the 16-year-old may leave the QMJHL for the United States Hockey League if the Foreurs do not trade him.

In 42 games this season with Val-d'Or, the native of Trois-Rivières, Quebec recorded six goals and two assists along with 15 penalty minutes.

Richard was drafted by the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers at the 2013 USHL Entry Draft in round 20, 295th overall.

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA - The Halifax Mooseheads are the 2013 President Cup champions!

The Mooseheads captured their first President Cup title with a 5-1 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in game five of their best-of-seven league final at the Halifax Metro Centre on Friday.

Stephen MacAulay led the way for Halifax scoring a pair of goals, while Stefan Fournier, Jonathan Drouin and Nathan MacKinnon also chipped in with goals for the Mooseheads.

Valentin Zykov had the lone goal for the Drakkar.

Halifax Mooseheads left winger Jonathan Drouin has won the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the President Cup Playoff Most Valuable Player.

Drouin was honored with the award following game five of the President Cup Final against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, which the Mooseheads won by a final score of 5-1.

The native of Huberdeau, Quebec, finished the President Cup playoffs with 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points in 17 games.

Drakkar' Banville & Verpaelst Suspended; Mooseheads' Lewis Suspended

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League handed down suspensions following game four of the President Cup final between the Halifax Mooseheads and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Drakkar forward Alec Jon Banville has been suspended two games for events revised by the league, while Drakkar defenseman Gabriel Verpaelst and Mooseheads' Trey Lewis have both been suspended one game each.

Game five of the President Cup Final goes Friday night in Halifax.

Even Strength's Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Department announced on Friday afternoon that they are extending their post-game tweets to one-half-hour for the remainder of the 2013 President Cup Final series between the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Halifax Mooseheads.

President Cup Final: Mooseheads Take Commanding 3-1 Series Lead Heading Home For Game Five

BAIE-COMEAU, QUE - Martin Frk's two goals and three assists led the Halifax Mooseheads to a 7-4 victory in game four of their best-of-seven President Cup final series against Baie-Comeau on Wednesday.

Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin, Konrad Abeltshauser, Andrew Ryan and Trey Lewis also added goals for the Mooseheads in the game.

Samuel Noreau, Petra, Carl Gélinas and Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau each netted goals for the Drakkar.
