Memorial Cup: MacKinnon Leads Mooseheads Past Winterhawks

SASKATOON - Nathan MacKinnon's four point night, which included a hat-trick, led the Halifax Mooseheads to a 7-4 victory over the Portland Winterhawks in game two of the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup on Saturday at the Credit Union Centre.

Along with MacKinnon scoring for Halifax, Jonathan Drouin, Luca Ciampini and Stephen MacAulay also chipped in with goals for the Mooseheads.

Troy Rutkowski had a pair of goals for Portland, while Seth Jones and Ty Rattie also netted goals for the Winterhawks.

Saskatoon, SK – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup Host Committee today announced that in an effort to provide our guests a safe environment during the MasterCard Memorial Cup, Credit Union Centre Management will not permit any bags or backpacks larger than 12”x12”x12” into the facility.  Exceptions to this are: diaper bags, and bags needed for medical conditions.

All permitted bags will be searched as you enter Credit Union Centre. Please be patient in assisting us to keep everyone safe.

Memorial Cup: Zadorov Nets Winner As Knights Edge Blades

SASKATOON - Nikita Zadorov's power play goal at 5:45 of the third period proved to be the game winner as the London Knights edged the Saskatoon Blades 3-2 at the Credit Union Centre on Friday.

Brett Welychka and Seth Griffith also scored goals for the Knights in the game.

Josh Nicholls had both goals for the host Blades.

Anthony Stolarz made 27 saves in the win for London, while Andrey Makarov turned aside 30 of 33 shots in the loss for Saskatoon.

Memorial Cup: Blades Hold On To Memorial Cup Hopes

The Saskatoon Blades know that they have their work cut out for them but they are still very focused on accomplishing their season goal of winning the MasterCard Memorial Cup on home ice later this month.
 
The Blades have been idle since late March after losing their first round playoff match-up against the Medicine Hat Tigers. They haven’t played a game in six weeks but after a two week break, the Blades got back to the business of getting ready for the tournament, which opens next Friday.
 

Memorial Cup: Coaches Set The Stage For MasterCard Memorial Cup

The field is set for the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup and all three champions from across the Canadian Hockey League traveled to Saskatoon on Wednesday and are set to begin the final chapter of the 2012-13 season.

On Wednesday night all four Head Coaches from the competing teams took centre stage and were introduced to the media to preview the 95th edition of the national championship.
