Halifax Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell announced on Friday morning that first round pick in 2012, Jack Eichel will not be reporting to Halifax for the clubs training camp next month.

The forward from North Chelmsford, Massachusetts this season will play for the US U-17 Development team in Ann Arbour, Michigan.

“Obviously, we’re disappointed that Jack won’t be with us this season”, said Russell in a press release. “At the same time, this was not a short term selection on our part, as we knew he was committed to the US Under 17 program for this upcoming season.  We’ll continue to stay in touch with the Eichel family to convince them that Halifax is the best spot for Jack’s development next year and beyond”.

Eichel, last season recorded 86 points in 36 games with the Boston Junior Bruins of the Empire Junior Hockey League.
