Butler Signs Two Year, One Way Deal With Senators

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Bobby Butler to a two-year, one-way contract worth $2.15 million.

Butler helped the Binghamton Senators hoist the Calder Cup last season, playing 70 games with the AHL team.

Maple Leafs Re-Sign Boyce

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed centre Darryl Boyce to a one-year contract.

Boyce scored five goals and eight assists in 46 games with the Maple Leafs in 2010-11, where he saw mostly fourth-line duties.

The responsible centre was finally able to get a regular shift in the bigs last season after spending most of the previous three seasons with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

Letourneau-Leblond Traded To Flames

The Calgary Flames have acquired forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. 

Huselius Out Four-Six Months

The Columbus Blue Jackets will be without forward Kristian Huselius for the next four-to-six months.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Huselius tore his pectoral muscle lifting weights last weekend in Sweden.  

Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson tweeted Wednesday night that Huselius will undergo surgery on Thursday.

Hurricanes Re-Sign Sutter To Three Year Deal

The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with centre Brandon Sutter on a three-year contract.

The deal will pay Sutter an average of $2.067 million per year. The deal is worth $1.5 million in 2011-12, $2 million in 2012-13 and $2.7 million in 2013-14.

Avalanche Sign O'Brien

The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenseman Shane O'Brien to a one-year contract.   O'Brien appeared in 80 games for the Nashville Predators in 2010-11, scoring two goals and seven assists, adding 83 penalty minutes.  His 80 games matched his career high set in 2006-07.

ALBERTA PREMIER NOT BUDGING ON OILERS ARENA CASH REQUEST

CALGARY - Alberta's premier has reiterated the province will not contribute direct cash to help build a new downtown arena for the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers cleared a major hurdle toward getting a new arena by working out a framework deal with the City of Edmonton.

It would see an 18,500-seat arena built in the downtown, but hinges on either the Alberta or federal governments coming up with $100 million for the $450 million project.

Canadiens Ink White

The Montreal Canadiens signed centre Ryan White to a one-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.

White finished his second season with the Habs. He had two goals and three assists in 27 games last season. He also played 33 games with their AHL affiliate in Hamilton, scoring three goals and 12 points.

The 23-year-old White was a third-round draft pick of the Canadiens in 2006.
